Purpose
This paper proposes a review of the Council’s current Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) policy and principles, which were agreed by Environment Committee on 18 January 2021. The objective of the proposed review is to determine the viability of alternative principles that would meet the road safety and parking needs of the borough whilst enabling the ability to use shorter parking controls or smaller zonal areas, where appropriate, to better reflect resident, business, and community feedback.
The paper also proposes an interim approach for implementing parking controls in areas with urgent/priority need or there are higher levels of support whilst the review is completed, subject to engagement with the relevant ward members.
