Purpose

Introducing signalised crossings at either end of the Buckingham Railway Walk and converting sections of existing Railway Walk permissive paths to shared use pedestrian and cycle paths. Additional works also include improved wayfinding, solar studs, and seating along the route.

Decision

The Leader:

NOTED the outcome of the statutory consultation and stakeholder engagement.

APPROVED the recommendations to introduce the following:

·         New signal-controlled toucan crossing on Tingewick Road with associated lighting improvements, and conversion of existing sections of highway verge into shared use paths.

·         Widening and conversion of established permissive paths (non-highway), including associated drainage improvements

·          By way of an order, to convert the former railway corridor into shared use Cycle Tracks along land owned by Buckinghamshire Council and Buckingham Town Council.

AGREED to undertake a new speed/road safety assessment on Tingewick Road following completion of the Buckingham Railway Walk works.
