Approval to proceed to statutory consultation for the conversion of an existing pair of speed cushions to a full-width raised table on Stomp Road, Burnham, to address safety concerns raised by the Parish Council and Lent Rise School regarding pupils and parents travelling to and from the school.

Reasons for the decision

To improve pedestrian safety and accessibility for parents and pupils travelling to and from Lent Rise School, while ensuring proposals remain proportionate and deliverable within the constraints of the existing highway.

Alternative options considered

Two potential locations for the proposed raised table crossing were considered: Site 1 (adjacent to the Esso Service Station) and Site 2 (outside Nos. 109 - 111 Stomp Road).
Site 1 was discounted due to significant technical and safety constraints. Site 2, while not meeting all desirable standards, is considered the most viable option and has therefore been taken forward, subject to careful design development and road safety assessment.
