To complete a lease renewal.

Reasons for the decision

The terms of the lease renewal are in line with the existing lease terms. The proposed lease renewal will provide a local community facility and will generate a revenue to support delivery of the Council’s services and meeting the Council’s obligations under Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1972.

Alternative options considered

Not renew the lease and obtain vacant possession and/or relet the building:

Benefit - Could eventually achieve a higher rent.

Disbenefit - No alternative users have expressed an interest. The property remains vacant with the Council
liable for costs whilst vacant
