Purpose

Final feedback report from the LGA following the Corporate Peer Challenge Progress Review.

Decision

Buckinghamshire Council's first Local Government Association (LGA) Corporate Peer Challenge took place between 30 September and 3 October 2025. The review recognised the significant progress made since the creation of the unitary authority and identified opportunities for further improvement across a number of areas. In response, Cabinet approved a Corporate Peer Challenge Action Plan in March 2026.

The LGA returned on 3 July 2026 to undertake a formal progress review. This report updated Cabinet on the Council's response to the original peer challenge, the work undertaken against the agreed action plan, the feedback from the revisit and how remaining activity would continue through established business planning, governance, transformation and performance management arrangements.

RESOLVED:

1)      That the outcome of the Local Government Association Corporate Peer Challenge Progress Review undertaken on 3 July 2026 be noted.

2)      That the significant progress made in responding to the original Corporate Peer Challenge and delivering the Corporate Peer Challenge Action Plan, approved by Cabinet in March 2026, be noted.

3)      That it be noted that the action plan has been delivered, with any remaining activity continuing through established business planning, governance, transformation and performance management arrangements.
