About

The Overview Committee scrutinises reports and proposals before they are presented to the Cabinet, offering constructive advice on council policies, projects, budgets, and services. It provides a platform for public input, as members of the public can speak on reports, influencing Cabinet decisions. The committee also contributes to policy development through task group reviews and acts as a community champion by allowing councillors to raise general concerns. Some functions, including the review of 'called-in' Cabinet decisions and monitoring financial and service performance, are delegated to a Scrutiny Sub-Committee.
