Purpose

Following the completion of the statutory consultation, the
report is seeking approval to enter into a Design and Build
contract with Cormac, without delay, to secure the delivery of
Phase 2 of the Active Travel element of the Mid Cornwall Metro to
ensure delivery within the funding timeframe and the delivery of an
improved, safer and more attractive space for all road users
including those walking and cycling in a part of Newquay that has a
high collision rate.

1. 
That the Portfolio
Holder for Transport, following consultation with the Monitoring
Officer, Strategic Director for Sustainable Growth and Place and
the Deputy Leader, approves the continuation of the
Newquay Phase 2 Active Travel Scheme and proceed to
construction subject to the outcome of the Traffic Regulation Order
(TRO) statutory consultation and Value for Money assessment of the
Stage 2 contract price.
