DECISION:
RESOLVED:
1.
That the United Nations Convention on the Rights of
a Child (UNCRC) be formally adopted together with the optional
UNCRC protocol number 2 prohibiting child prostitution, child
pornography and the sale of children into slavery.
2.
That the Position Statement appended to the report
at Appendix 2 be approved as the means by which the adoption of the
UNCRC be embedded as part of the Council’s work and authority
be delegated to the Strategic Director of Together for Families, in
consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Children, Families and
Schools, to make any amendments or revisions to the Position
Statement.
