Purpose
The
Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy for Cornwall is presented
for sign off following internal and external consultation and
revision. It is a government
requirement for each Local Authority to have an EVI Strategy to
support its Local Transport Plan and strengthen grant funding
applications. The Strategy sets out the
direction of travel for the expansion of EV infrastructure in
Cornwall up to 2030 and the Council’s role within
this.
Content
It was proposed by
Councillor Dwelly, seconded by Councillor Channon and
RESOLVED that the Strategic Director for
Sustainable Growth and Development be recommended to increase
the Cornwall Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (EVI) Strategy’s
prioritisation of convenient EV Charging for Cornwall residents,
especially for the less well off, and
quantify the investment needed to deliver acceptable EV Charging
provision and use this information in negotiations with Government
to influence a future devolution/funding
settlement.
It was also proposed by Councillor Perry,
seconded by Councillor Channon and
RESOLVED that subject to the comments of
the Committee, set out in the minutes of the meeting, the Cornwall
Electric vehicle Infrastructure Strategy be recommended to the
Strategic Director for Sustainable Growth and Development, in
consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Transport, for approval.
Actions:
(i)
To ascertain from the Carbon Neutral team whether
the Council’s transport fleet transition to carbon neutral
was budgeted for.
(ii)
To provide clarity on what currently was required to
install an EV charging point at home.
