About

Composition The composition of the Health and Wellbeing Board is as follows:-   Representatives nominated by the Leader (being currently):  

o   Portfolio Holder for Adult and Health Services;

o   Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People’s Services

o   Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Finance;  

·      Representation from the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board;

·      A representative from Local Healthwatch;

·      Corporate Director of Adult and Health Services;

·      Corporate Director of Children and Young People’s Services;

·      Corporate Director of Regeneration, Economy and Growth (nominated representative is the Head of Planning and Housing);

·      Director of Public Health (also a member of the County Durham Environment and Climate Change Partnership);

·      Director of Integrated Community Services (a joint representative of Durham County Council, and Health partners);   and nominated representation from each of the following:-  

·      Chief Executive of Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust;

·      Chief Executive of County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust;

·      Chief Executive of City of Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust;

·      Chief Executive of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust;

·      Chief Executive of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust;

·      Durham Constabulary;

·      Office of the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner;

·      County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service;

·      Durham University;

·      Durham Community Action;

·      County Durham Economic Partnership;

·      County Durham Care Partnership - Lay Member for Engagement.  

Role and Functions The Health and Wellbeing Board will have the following roles and functions:-  

·      Promote integrated working between commissioners of health services, public health and social care services, for the purposes of advancing the health and wellbeing of the people in its area;

 

·      To develop a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, which provides an overview of the current and future health and wellbeing needs of the people of County Durham;

 

·      To develop a Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JLHWS), which is based on evidence in the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment;  

·      To produce a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment which looks at the current provision of pharmacy services across County Durham, and whether there are any potential gaps to service delivery;

 

·      Be involved in the process as the Integrated Care Board develops its Strategy and ensure they take account of the County Durham Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy when developing this; and

 

·      Provide advice and assistance or other support as it thinks appropriate for the purposes of encouraging the making of arrangements under Section 75 of the National Health Service Act 2006.  

Joint Strategic Needs Assessment The County Durham Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) provides a detailed overview of the current and future health and wellbeing needs of the people of County Durham.

 

Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy The Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JLHWS) strategy outlines a three-year vision for improving health and wellbeing and addressing health inequalities in the county.

 

Better Health Care Plan The Health and Wellbeing Board has received regular updates and agreed the Better Health Care Plan. For a copy of the plan, please contact hwb@durham.gov.uk

 

Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment looks at the current provision of pharmacy services across County Durham, and whether there are any potential gaps to service delivery.
