The Darlington Council Cabinet, also known as the Executive, is the primary body responsible for making council policy and carrying out functions not assigned elsewhere by law or the Council's Constitution. It comprises seven councillors, including the Leader and Deputy Leader. The Cabinet collectively makes most decisions, though the Leader can make many decisions independently and is responsible for proposing the budget and new policies, either alone or with the Cabinet. While other political group leaders and the Chair of the Monitoring and Co-ordination Group attend and debate, they do not have voting rights.
