Purpose

In order to provide 30 more, SEND pupil places
at the academy and be reconfigured to provide more classrooms and
the Children’s Centre will be made suitable for SEND school
occupation and let replace lost space at the school. The places are
needed for the start of the 2025/26 school year.
To achieve the above, a series of contracts will be entered
into.
1. A funding agreement will be entered. Funds to be provided by DfE
and administered by DBC.
2. Enter into an agreement for lease which provides that the grant
of an academy lease is subject to completing the works
3. Enter into a standard academy lease for a term of 112
years

Decision

To enter into a funding agreement and grant an
agreement for lease and 112 year lease.

To enable the provision of 30 SEND secondary school
places.

Alternative options considered

Not to enter into the above contracts. This
option was considered and rejected as the current SEND provision in
Darlington is not capable of accommodating the 2025/26
cohort.
