Purpose
We have been asked by Solar for Schools on
behalf of Longfield Academy and Rydal Academy (Both schools managed
by the Abbey Schools Federation Trust) for landlords consent for
Solar for schools to install and maintain 657 Photo voltaic panels
on the roofs of Longfield Academy and 397 photo voltaic panels on
the roofs of Rydal Academy. Solar for schools are proposing to
install and maintain these panels by way a 25 year underlease
agreement on each school from a date to be agreed. The current
ground leases on each academy are for a term of 125 years from
1/8/2011 at Longfield Academy and 125 less one day from 30th
November 2012 at Rydal Academy. The Federation of Abbey Schools
Federation Trust will pay our reasonable legal and surveyors fees
to approve the sub underleases and the works proposed.
Decision
To approve the proposed grant 25 year sub
underleases for Solar for Schools to install and maintain photo
voltaic units at Longfield and Rydal Academy Schools in Darlington
( both owned by The Federation of Abbey Schools Academy
Trust)
The installation of photo voltaics on the roofs of Longfield and
Rydal academies by Solar for schools will help reduce the academies
carbon footprint and reduce the energy cost of running the schools
for The Federation of Abbey Schools Academy Trust.
