Purpose

29 Skinnergate has been vacant since 2021 when
the previous tenant surrendered their lease. Following an
unsuccessful period of marketing, the property was identified for a
refurbishment scheme supported by the Towns Fund.
The tenant is a celebrated chef with established businesses in
Sunderland and Darlington.

Decision

To grant a new lease for 29 Skinnergate for a
term of 5 years for use as a bakery and hot food premises.

REASONS (a) The premises have been vacant for 2 years – void
premises are a liability for the Council.
(b) The new business will enhance the vibrancy of Skinnergate and
the surrounding area in line with Town Centre regeneration
objectives.
(c) To generates an income for the Council.
