Purpose

DBC officers, in partnership with Darlington
Forest Project and Groundwork N.E., have been looking for a
suitable site for a tree nursery to grow trees ready for planting
at various locations across the Borough. The former stables site
has become available following the relocation of stables on this
site due to flooding issues in certain areas. All interested
parties have reviewed the site and agreed that it is a suitable
location for the tree nursery.

Implementation date: 1 October 2023

Decision

To lease the site to Groundwork N.E. at a
peppercorn rent to work in partnership with Darlington Forest
Project and DBC to enable the group to grow saplings that will then
be planted at various sites across the Borough.
