The Policy Overview Committee reviews the council's general policies and recommends future options to the Cabinet. It gathers views from other committees, stakeholders, and residents to ensure balanced policy effects and informed decision-making.

The committee also investigates broad policy issues, advises the Cabinet on major decisions before they are made, and reviews how past decisions have impacted communities. It considers new approaches to service delivery, setting performance targets and challenging existing methods. Additionally, it reviews health services within the Borough of Dartford and responds to relevant consultation papers.
