About

The Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education (SACRE) is responsible for the locally agreed syllabus of religious education and overseeing collective worship in maintained schools within Derbyshire. Established by the 1988 Education Reform Act, SACRE ensures religious education supports pupils' spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental, and physical development.

SACRE's work includes revising the Agreed Syllabus every five years, reviewing school progress, and setting priorities. It comprises representatives from Christian and other denominations, the Church of England, teachers' associations, and Derbyshire County Council, with potential co-options from relevant organisations.
