Purpose

To approve the transfer of previously approved funds as part of the Derbyshire County Council 2021-22 Capital Modernisation Programme directly to Parkside Community School who are now part of the Embark Academies Trust.

Decision

That the Cabinet Member for Education approves the transfer of remaining available funding from the Capital Modernisation Programme 2021-22 for Parkside Community School, (project code PX-C-21-0028) to the Embark Academies Trust via a grant agreement.  The Trust will self-manage the project.

Reasons for the decision

 It is agreed that a school self-delivered project will ensure efficient and effective use of the remaining available funds. The Academy will follow their own procurement procedures and self-manage the project eliminating any additional costs for external project management.

Alternative options considered

The initial tendering process co-ordinated by CDL Ltd did not receive any favourable tender returns. Children’s Services Development approached Parkside Community School and Embark Academies Trust to enquire whether they would prefer this process to be repeated and continued through Derbyshire County Council, or to have the funds transferred to them to enable a self-managed project.
