Purpose

To seek Cabinet Member approval for the award of £0.037m for 2024/25 to one organisation from the Supplementary Substance Misuse Treatment and Recovery Grant (SSMTRG) to Global Adventure Missions

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Health and Communities approved the award of £37,240.00 of funding to Global Adventure Missions to provide recovery activities in Derbyshire from 01 April 2024 until 31 March 2025 from the Supplementary Substance Misuse Treatment and Recovery Grant.

Reasons for the decision

Global Adventure Missions met the criteria for the grant funding and had demonstrated that they could provide activities to support recovery in Derbyshire from 01 April 2024 until 31 March 2025.

Alternative options considered

Do nothing: This is not a preferred option as individuals in receipt of drug and alcohol treatment are more likely to recover if they can access supportive arrangements alongside treatment. Also, this option would not be in line with the recent updated government 10-year policy ‘From Harm to Hope’ which recent updated guidance had a renewed focus on developing recovery opportunities.

Do something different: This is not a preferred option, as whilst there will still be provision of other supportive recovery projects, they do not offer a provision that particularly focuses on women, in this location. Also, this option would not be in line with the recent updated government 10-year policy ‘From Harm to Hope’ which recent updated guidance had a renewed focus on developing recovery opportunities.
