Purpose

To seek the Cabinet Member’s approval to carry out a procurement for Derbyshire Promotional Campaigns.

To seek the Cabinet Member’s approval to delegate authority to award contracts for the Derbyshire Promotional Campaigns to the Executive Director – Place.
 

Decision

The Cabinet Member approved procurement to be carried out for Invest in Derbyshire Promotional Campaigns. As well as delegating authority to award contracts for the Derbyshire Promotional Campaigns to the Executive Director – Place, in consultation with the Director of Legal and Democratic Services

Reasons for the decision

To be able to fulfil the obligations set out in the Grant Funding Agreement with EMCCA and to maximise the potential of attracting new inward investment into Derbyshire.

Alternative options considered

Option 1: to return the grant award and not launch the three campaigns. This option is not recommended as the necessary promotional activity would not be delivered and the Derbyshire economy would not secure inward investment.

Option 2: To amend or scale down the proposed campaigns outlined in this report. This option is not recommended as it would impact the effectiveness of promotional outreach and fair distribution of marketing assets across all eight district and borough areas.
