Full council record
Purpose
To inform the Cabinet Member of the
content of a Joint Prevention Strategy and seek approval for the
publication of the Derbyshire Adult Social Care and Public Health
Prevention Strategy 2025-27.
Decision
The Cabinet Member for Adult Care approve the content and
purpose of the Adult Social Care and Public Health Prevention
Strategy 2025-2027 as well as approve the publication of the Adult
Social Care and Public Health Prevention Strategy
2025-2027.
Reasons for the decision
The Adult Social Care and Public Health Prevention Strategy
will be implemented to enable the Council to lay the foundations
for a co-ordinated system-wide partnership approach to embedding
prevention in our local communities. It will enable the
identification of shared priorities and maximise the impact and
efficiency of available resources. This will contribute to the
long-term goal of improving healthy life expectancy and delaying,
preventing or reducing the social care and health needs of
Derbyshire residents.
Alternative options considered
The alternative option would be to not develop a joint Adult
Social Care and Public Health Prevention Strategy. This would risk
duplication of resource across public health and adult social care
and would limit the ability to identify and collaborate on shared
priorities to maximise impact and efficiency. This could prevent or
delay the implementation of a co-ordinated system wide approach to
prevention in Derbyshire.
