Purpose

This is a bespoke service which the service area wishes to again procure. There is a good relationship with the provider, and the service area have seen benefits from the service / system. Cost remains competitive.

Decision

Following TGB approval it is sought to again expand the scope of Doncaster’s partnership with Zero Gravity from our previous partnership agreement of April 2025-April 2026 (reporting until October 2026) therefore the new contract will need to begin in April 2026 to enrol young people this year. Although through the previous contract Zero Gravity will still continue on a reporting basis for ongoing outcomes from the previous cohort of students, this is to continue and to ensure the best possible outcomes for Doncaster’s socially mobile school and university students. Therefore, it is proposed to direct award Zero Gravity with a contract cost of xxxxx
Plus, VAT per year, with the option to extend for 1 additional year.
Commencement: April the 1st 2026 to April 1st 2027 (reporting on outcomes until October 2027) with the option to extend for an additional year.

Zero Gravity have been providing support, through their platform, to Doncaster students for over 4 years. The platform addresses the need to give disadvantaged students additional support to access the full range of higher-level study options. Doncaster is below the national average in young people accessing these options and through the platform they will have the opportunity to access mentoring and support that they would otherwise not be able to access.

Alternative options considered

Other options were explored, but the service area felt that Zero Gravity was the best option. Due diligence to look at other potential providers and check that the service was getting the best value was looked at in regard to price/service. Zero Gravity still offer the best value, as again the price has not increased, and communication and offer as remained good with the provider.
