Purpose

The funding is provided to support compliance with statutory duties under the Supported Housing
Regulatory Oversight Act, which requires Local Authorities to:
• Develop and publish a Local Supported Housing Strategy
• Undertake an assessment of current provision and future need for supported housing

This work aligns with broader strategic housing priorities and ongoing service development activity.
Acceptance of the funding will enable the Council to meet legislative requirements and strengthen its
strategic approach to supported housing provision.

Decision

To accept £92,434 of grant funding from MHCLG and approve its use to:
• Support the development of the Local Supported Housing Strategy
• Undertake analysis to assess current and future supported housing need
• Commission relevant research and evidence gathering to inform strategic planning
• Support service review and improvement activity relating to supported housing provision
and access arrangements

Alternative options considered

Do not accept the funding
Rejected as this would limit the Council’s ability to meet statutory duties and result in loss
of external funding.
• Use funding for alternative housing priorities only
Rejected as funding is ringfenced and linked to specific statutory requirements.
• Delay strategy development
