Purpose

This report is to seek approval to use £4000 of Section 106 monies for improved play equipment, facilities and lighting at Bentley park, £4000 to be taken from planning reference 22/00430/FULM
Background Information
Bentley playground and park is an open space area as designated in Doncaster’s unitary development plan.
The park itself is located in the North of Doncaster, Within the ward of Bentley.
The proposed improvements to the park are all aligned with the park management plan and to the aspirations of the Bentley ward councillors.
The park is very well used and popular recreational area in the heart of Bentley. A very historically important area, the park serves a large number of residents with many features unique to it
In consultation with Streetscene, ward councillors and residents, the following elements of work are proposed.
With the commuted sums we are seeking to enhance the park by carrying out the following works:

1. Install new feeder pillar to band stand
2. Move existing feeder cable to new location
3. Install socket and light switch for the band stand
4. Reinstate all ground works
5. Carry out full test and certification
6. Install sub meter to band stand

Decision

To approve the allocation of £4000 of Section 106 monies for the enhancement of Bentley Park.

Alternative options considered

Option one - Contribute the full amount of available Section 106 monies to delivering the scheme.
Option Two - Do not contribute any Section 106 monies to the project and risk not being able to
deliver the improvements.
