Purpose
Without dedicated project leadership, there is a risk that improvement activity becomes fragmented, progress is not effectively coordinated and monitored, and opportunities to secure lasting system-wide improvements are reduced. The establishment of this role will help ensure that resources are directed towards delivering measurable improvements, achieving the objectives of the SEND Reform Plan, and maintaining effective partnership working across education, health and care services. The role will also provide the capacity and oversight required to monitor delivery against key performance measures, funding requirements, savings targets and improvement milestones.
Decision
The creation of the SEND Reform Plan Project Lead post is required to provide dedicated leadership, coordination and oversight of the Doncaster SEND Reform Plan and associated improvement activity. The scale, complexity and strategic importance of the SEND Reform programme requires focused programme management capacity to ensure that improvement actions are implemented effectively, progress is monitored, and expected outcomes are delivered for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
