Decision
City of Doncaster Council has been allocated up to £270k from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government as part of the Playgrounds Fund, to upgrade or create 3 playgrounds.
We have identified 3 playgrounds which are amongst our top ones for improvements. This has been based upon the councils play policy, annual play quality & play value assessments, indices of multiple deprivation, health decile and the population under 18. These 3 sites also fit the criteria for the play funding.
This decision is to accept the £270k funding and use on the 3 identified playgrounds.
Alternative options considered
Option 1 - Not to accept the funding - This would result in the existing capital money being used to cover the improvements to playgrounds on list of those identified sites as most ‘in need’. There will not be sufficient money in the existing capital budget to cover all improvements to all those sites identified in the second part of the planned improvement works.
Option 2 - (recommended option) To accept the funding - This will result in the existing capital money going further and being able to be used to pay for improvements in more of the identified ‘in need’ sites.
