Appeals Committee

The Appeals Committee is responsible for hearing and determining reviews and appeals that the Council is legally required to consider. This includes appeals related to educational or discretionary grants and relief functions. The committee also handles applications for discharge from mental health guardianship, reviews of parking concessions for disabled individuals, and disputes concerning financial assessments for residential or nursing home care. It can also review certain personal data issues. The committee comprises 15 members appointed by Full Council, with up to 5 members sitting to hear each appeal. A quorum of 3 members is required, and substitutes cannot be appointed.
