The Dorset Police and Crime Panel scrutinises the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset. It reviews and makes recommendations on the Commissioner's draft Police and Crime Plan and annual report, and holds confirmation hearings for senior appointments, including the Chief Constable. The panel also examines decisions and actions taken by the Commissioner, and has a role in handling conduct complaints and appointing an Acting Commissioner if needed. Its members are drawn from Dorset Council, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council, and independent representatives.
