Reasons for the decision
Dorset Council has a statutory duty to manage its road network
efficiently. Civil enforcement of moving traffic offences will:

congestion

- Support climate goals by reducing
emissions

such as walking and cycling
- Reduce reliance on Dorset Police for
enforcement.
Alternative options considered
Do Nothing: Not applying for a Civil Enforcement Area designation order
would mean the continued reliance on Dorset Police for enforcement which has
limited capacity to do so.
Do Minimum: It is possible to apply for a
Civil Enforcement Area designation in part of the County, but there is no
compelling case for excluding any part of the County.
