Purpose
Traffic
Regulation Order – The County of Dorset (Post Green Road, Lytchett Minster)
(Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) Order 2025
Content
That having considered the proposal, to implement the
Prohibition of Motor Vehicles restriction along part of Post Green Road,
Lytchett Minster as advertised.
Reasons for the decision
For avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the
roads, or any other road, and for preventing the likelihood of any such danger
arising.
To ensure a safe environment for pedestrians (specifically
school children) on Post Green Road, reducing the potential for conflict
between two-way traffic and pedestrians along a narrow section of the road.
For facilitating the passage on the road, or any other road,
of any class of traffic (including foot passengers) or of vehicles.
Alternative options considered
An alternative proposal for a Prohibition of Entry Order was
previously considered and a public consultation was carried out in July-August
2025. Following the outcome of this consultation, it was agreed not to continue
with this proposal as it was felt that a Prohibition of Motor Vehicles Order at
school times only would be more suitable.
