Decision
Authority be delegated to the Cabinet Member for Place Commissioned Services to amend Point 7 of the current SCP
sponsorship policy.
Reasons for the decision
Reason for the decision
Dorset Council provides a fully funded
SCP service to communities where the school crossing meets policy criteria. For
locations which do not meet criteria the communities have an option to sponsor
a SCP.
Presently, the policy requires
sponsors to only cover the salary and
associated on-costs including national insurance and pension scheme, where
appropriate. It does not require the sponsor to meet the full costs including
line management costs, equipment/uniform and where applicable maintenance of
SCP patrol lights. This leaves Dorset Council open to a future uncontrolled
financial risk.
The update is required to
document a new approach, which will prevent these additional costs being
attributed to Dorset Council.
Point 7 within the policy will be
amended to state:
Sponsorship
funding will cover salary and associated on-costs including national insurance
and pension scheme, where appropriate.
Line management costs, including equipment/uniform and where applicable
maintenance of School Crossing Patrol lights.
