Purpose

Cabinet to receive and consider the response of EHDC to the
consultation, in relation to the SDNP Draft Local Plan.

Decision

RESOLVED that
 
a.    
the submission of the Council’s response
(Appendix A) to the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) in
regard to their consultation on the South Downs Local Plan Review
– First Public Consultation (Regulation 18), by 17 March
2025, be approved.
 
b.   
It be noted that the Executive Director of
Operations, in consultation with the Portfolio holder for
Regulation and Enforcement, will make any minor changes required to
the Council’s response (Appendix A), in advance of
submission.
 
Reasons for the decision
 
The revisions and proposals directly affect
East Hampshire District. In its capacity as the Local Planning
Authority (LPA) for the area of East Hampshire outside of the South
Downs National Park (SDNP), a response to the consultation is
prepared (Appendix A).
 
Alternative Options considered
 
Option 1: Do not respond to the
consultation.
This would be a missed opportunity to raise
concerns about key issues affecting East Hampshire.
 
Option 2: Respond to the consultation
This is the only option that enables the
Council to give its view on these proposed significant changes that
affect East Hampshire.
 
The call-in deadline is 4.00 pm on
Wednesday 19 March 2025.
