Purpose
To agree the draft response to the Government consultation
on devolution proposals for Hampshire and the Solent.
Decision
RESOLVED that
The indicative
response to the Hampshire and the Solent Devolution Consultation,
as set out in appendix 1 be amended as follows:
Question 1 be
amended to neither agree nor disagree and change “will
bring” to “could bring”.
Question 2 be
strongly disagree.
Question 3 be
neither agree nor disagree and change “will bring” to
“could bring”.
Question 4 be
neither agree nor disagree and change “will bring” to
“could bring”.
Question 5 be
amended to neither agree nor disagree and change “will
mainly” to “could mainly”.
Question 6 be
neither agree nor disagree and change “will be” to
“could be”.
Question 7 be
amended to neither agree nor disagree
The
Council’s response to the consultation, as amended, be agreed
and for officers to submit the response by the deadline of 13 April
2025.
Reasons for the decision
To finalise and agree East Hampshire District
Council’s response to the Government’s public
consultation on the establishment of a Mayoral County Combined
Authority for Hampshire and the Solent.
Alternative Options
Considered
There are two options relating to the
consultation; 1) do nothing or 2) respond to the consultation.
Responding to the consultation is considered the only option given
that the Council wishes to ensure its views on the devolution
agenda are taken into account.
The call-in deadline
is Tuesday 15 April 2025 at 4.00pm.
