Purpose

To consider the report and recommendations in respect of
Local Government Reorganisation.

Decision

It was RESOLVED that Cabinet:
 
         
Agreed, that based on the work completed to date, East Hampshire
District Council’s proposed preferred option is B2 - 4
unitary authorities for Hampshire and the Solent (as set out in
more detail in Appendix A).
 
         
Agreed to engage with stakeholders, residents and members to ensure
the proposed preferred option is informed by local views and meets
local needs (according to the Engagement Plan set out in paragraph
135) prior to finalisation for
agreement and submission to central government in September
2025.
 
Adopt the
principles of a Simpler, Stronger and Secure vision (paragraph 29
and 30) and guiding principles (paragraph 118) as an approach to
Local Government Reorganisation.
