Elmbridge Museum Store Move
July 14, 2025 Cabinet (Cabinet collective) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Elmbridge Museum cares for a collection of
c.43,000 objects which is currently stored in two off-site
facilities, Luxfords located in Weybridge and Elmgrove Hall located
in Walton-on-Thames. Elmbridge Museum needs to re-locate its
collection that is currently stored on the Elmgrove site to
Luxfords. This move is essential in order to retain its Arts
Council England accreditation and to provide vacant possession for
the forthcoming Elmgrove redevelopment project.
The report also proposes that a longer-term option be further
explored to work in partnership to relocate Elmbridge
museum’s whole collection onto the Brooklands Museum site
ahead of the forthcoming Surrey wide local government
reorganisation.
