Resolved that
(a)
the updates for Local Government Reorganisation in Surrey, and
particularly the decision and relevant information from the
Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government be
noted;
(b) it
be noted that the Leader had agreed to the establishment of a
voluntary East Surrey Joint Committee under the provisions of
Section 101(5) (arrangements for discharge of functions by local
authorities) of the Local Government Act 1972;
(c) it be noted
that the Leader had agreed that upon enactment of the Surrey
(Structural Changes) Order 2026, the voluntary East Surrey Joint
Committee would become the joint committee required to be
established under the provisions of that legislation and would have
the same terms of reference and membership as the voluntary East
Surrey Joint Committee, established under the provisions of Section
101(5) (arrangements for discharge of functions by local
authorities) of the Local Government Act 1972 and pursuant to the
requirements of the Surrey (Structural Changes) Order 2026;
and
(d) it
be noted that the Leader would be the appointed representative for
Elmbridge on all relevant Joint Committees.
