Purpose

To seek delegated authority to:

(1)   Approve the payment of a capital contribution of £1 million towards the design and construction costs of a replacement highway structure at Walk Bridge that would allow the Stroud Canal to be navigable at this location.

(2)   Determine the nature and extent of Gloucestershire County Council’s role in the delivery of the project through the planning, design and construction stages of the scheme.

Decision

Cllr Joe Harris sought delegated authority to:

(1) Approve the payment of a capital contribution of £1 million towards the design and construction costs of a replacement highway structure at Walk Bridge that would allow the Stroud Canal to be navigable at this location.

(2) Determine the nature and extent of Gloucestershire County Council’s role in the delivery of the project through the planning, design and construction stages of the scheme.

RESOLVED to:

Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Economy, Environment & Infrastructure, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Highways to:

 1. Approve a £1 million Gloucestershire County Council capital contribution to the design and construction costs of a replacement highway structure at Walk Bridge that would allow the Stroud Canal to be navigable at this location.

2. Determine the nature and extent of Gloucestershire County Council’s role in the delivery of the project through the planning, design and construction stages of the scheme subject to such involvement not exceeding the allocated £1 million.
