Purpose
To seek approval to accept a grant from the Department for Education and to use this to develop and implement a plan for the delivery of Skills Bootcamps in Gloucestershire for the period April 2026 to March 2027
Decision
In coming to this decision I have given due and full regard to the requirements of the public sector equality duty contained in section 149 of the Equality Act 2010 (“the Act”) by reference to the law itself and also the relevant Equality Impact Assessment, which was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Act.
Having fully considered all the available information, I have decided to reject the alternative options and take the recommended decision to:
Delegate authority to the Executive Director of Economy, Environment and Infrastructure in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Employment and Skills to:
- Enter into a funding agreement with the Department for Education (DfE) under which the council shall receive £1,575,000 DfE funding for the purpose of fully funding the delivery of Skills Bootcamps.?
- Conduct a competitive procurement process in respect of? contracts for the supply of Skills Bootcamps for adults who are unemployed, seeking career progression, or looking to develop higher-level skills, including individualsfrom disadvantaged backgrounds. The purpose of these contracts is to equip adults with the skills required by local employers and priority sectors, supporting economic growth and workforce development.. The proposed contracts shall continue for an initial period of 1 year and include an option to extend their term for a further period of not more than 2 years, subject to continued DfE funding.??
- Award such contracts to the preferred tenderers; and?
- Determine whether to exercise the option to extend the term of the above contracts for a further period of not more than 2 years on the expiry of the initial 1-year term, subject to satisfactory performance and confirmation of continued DfE funding
