Confirmation Hearings Committee

The Confirmation Hearings Committee is responsible for reviewing appointments proposed by the Mayor of London to key leadership roles. The committee considers candidates for positions such as the Chair of Transport for London, the Cultural Leadership Board, and Mayoral Development Corporations. Following notification from the Mayor, the Assembly has three weeks to provide a recommendation on whether an appointment should be confirmed, which may involve requesting the candidate attend a hearing to answer questions. The Mayor can accept or reject the Assembly's recommendation, but the appointment cannot proceed until this confirmation process is complete.
