For the Delivery Director to approve a
variation of contract to Carter Jonas LLP

Reasons for the decision

Haringey Council’s Business Development
Team oversees an acquisitions programme, which aims to alleviate
the strain on families in Temporary Accommodation (TA) within the
London Borough of Haringey.

To ensure the continued success of the programme, the Council
requires the services of a RICS-Registered Surveyor to provide
professional property valuations. The contract with the
Council’s current surveyor is nearing its conclusion. The
procurement of a term contract is being prepared, but this will not
be in place before the current contract value is fully
utilised.

This extension allows the Business Development Team time to develop
and implement a longer-term solution for procuring surveyor
services whilst retaining business continuity.

Alternative options considered

1. Do Nothing – This would result in the
council being unable to continue purchasing properties jeopardizing
the programme’s operation and its capacity to address housing
needs as no valuation service would be in place.

2. Utilising an existing valuations contract was considered.
However, there are currently no suitable contracts in place that
meet the requirements.
