About
The Charity Committee is a Cabinet committee responsible for making decisions regarding the Foreshore Trust, of which Hastings Borough Council is the sole trustee. The Trust owns land on the seafront at Hastings and St Leonards.
The committee, composed of three Cabinet members, manages potential conflicts of interest between the council and the charity. It receives advice on land management from the Coastal Users Group and on grant allocation from an independent Grant Advisory Panel. A Protector appointed by the Charity Commission acts as an independent watchdog over the Trust.
