Purpose

To
continue trials of relaxed mowing regimes on Council owned land in
order to promote biodiversity and reduce carbon emissions. The
previous nine trial sites and any new sites will be subject to
botanical monitoring to monitor success to provide evidence of the
effectiveness of the actions.

Decision

To allow for changes to the grass cutting
regimes on Council owned land to promote biodiversity and reduce
carbon emissions. This would entail the continuation of nine trial
relaxed mowing sites plus the commencement of relaxed mowing at
other sites. Within each site, decisions can be made to adapt the
mowing regime as required to fulfil the aims of biodiversity
enhancement and carbon emission reduction.

Details of these sites are provided in
Appendix 1.
