The Cabinet, on 21 March 2024, approved recommendations from the Property, Highways and Transport Select Committee regarding highways resurfacing activities. The Cabinet Member for Property, Highways and Transport, in conjunction with officers, will implement the committee's specific recommendations. These include developing a standardised response template for member enquiries, endorsing resident feedback for repair prioritisation, ensuring transparency of planned works, enhancing communication with other highway authorities, and consulting between Highways and Green Spaces teams on tree root issues. Additionally, the Cabinet agreed to promote less energy-intensive resurfacing techniques, endorse new technologies, support cost-effective repaving methods, and encourage early ordering and volume discounts from the resurfacing contractor.
