Strategic Overview & Scrutiny Committee

The Ipswich Borough Council's Strategic Overview & Scrutiny Committee monitors and reviews all decisions made by the Council's Executive. It ensures executive decisions are publicly accountable, policy-making is transparent, and corporate priorities and budgets are effective. The committee can recommend that the Executive reconsiders a decision if it believes it may be contrary to the public interest. It also has the power to 'call-in' executive decisions it believes have been made incorrectly, preventing them from being acted upon until the committee has considered the matter.
