The Climate Emergency Working Group advises the Council of the Isles of Scilly on actions to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030. It champions the islands' environment and renewable energy resources, considering how the Council can minimise carbon emissions and the effects of climate change.
The group also assesses budgetary and resource implications, promotes awareness of climate action among businesses and individuals, and acts as a reference point for carbon reduction and climate adaptation. It makes recommendations to Full Council and other strategic committees but has no decision-making powers, operating solely in an advisory capacity.
