Purpose
The purpose of this Order is to support the
improved amenities of Kirkham Town Centre, including specifically
the creation of an events space on Market Square, Kirkham.
The Experimental Order entail a Prohibition of driving at all times
except for access for the market and events, where access for
vehicles will be controlled by Fylde Borough Council, Kirkham Town
Council or their appointed representatives.
Market Square was previously used for informal parking. However
free parking is provided adjacent in the form of dedicated on
street parking areas in Church Street and Poulton Street and there
is provision of ample free parking elsewhere within Kirkham at both
Eagles Court and Mill Street, both of which are operated by Kirkham
Town Council.
This Order was progressed as an Experimental Traffic Regulation
Order to allow monitoring and evaluation of how the prohibition
works alongside the level of access required to the area.
