Summary

...to waive the Council's Procurement Rules and directly award a contract to Johnsons Workwear for fleet laundry services due to an unsuccessful tender exercise, ensuring service continuity and health and safety standards while a new procurement strategy is developed.

Full council record
Purpose

A recent tender exercise to establish a new
contract for the supply and laundering of workwear for Fleet
Services staff was unsuccessful due to limited market
response.

To ensure continuity of service and uphold health and safety
standards, it is proposed that a direct award be made to the
incumbent supplier, Johnsons Workwear. Johnsons has consistently
delivered these services to a satisfactory standard and is
well-positioned to continue without disruption.

This arrangement will allow the Council to conduct market
engagement and revise the procurement strategy ahead of a new
tender exercise for a long-term agreement.

Content

Andrew Varley, Head of Service
for Passenger and Fleet Transport, on behalf of the Matt
Townsend, Director of Highways and
Transport, took a decision to make a direct
award to Johnsons Workwear for the continuation of the supply and
laundering of workwear to ensure the continuity of service and
uphold health a safety standards. This follows an unsuccessful
market response to a procurement exercise.
