Full council record
Purpose

20mph Speed Restriction:

The purpose of the proposed extension of the 20mph speed limit on
Copp Lane, Great Eccleston is to improve the safety of motorised
and non-motorised users, mitigating against additional traffic
flows and pedestrian movements from the new housing
development.

30mph Speed Restriction

A new access is to be constructed onto Copp Lane, Elswick. In order
to reduce the speed of vehicles approaching and navigating the new
junction as well as providing additional protection for all road
users and pedestrians, it is proposed to extend the existing 30mph
speed limit.

40mph Speed Restriction

This proposal introduces a shortened extent of the 40mph speed
restriction along Copp Lane that has resulted as a consequence of
extending the 30mph by virtue of street lighting at the southern
end in Elswick and extending the 20mph speed restriction at the
northern end in Great Eccleston.

Revocation and tidy up:

This proposal seeks to revoke the existing 30mph Speed Limit Orders
on High Street, Thistleton Road, Beech Road, Ash Road, Lodge Lane
and Roseacre Road, reverting the roads back to 30mph by virtue of
street lighting. The proposal also seeks to simplify and tidy up
the existing 20mph Speed Limit Order on Chesham Street, South
Street and Leckonby Street. For both aspects there will be no
changes to the restrictions or their extents on site. Therefore,
drivers will not be subject to any changes as a result.
