Purpose

These roads form part of the No. 9 bus route within Lancaster. To reduce obstruction from parked vehicles, particularly at the bend with Clarence Street, No Waiting at Any Time restrictions are proposed along specific sections of the route. In addition, a No Waiting restriction Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm is proposed on Hala Road to retain evening and weekend parking for local service users while still maintaining a clear route for buses.
The introduction of these restrictions aims to provide an unobstructed route for buses, improving operation in both directions, enhancing reliability for passengers, and supporting the efficient movement of services along the route.

Consultations
Formal consultation was carried out between 16th July 2026 and 13th August 2026 which included advertising in the local press and notices being displayed on site. Divisional county councillors were consulted along with the council's usual consultees and the consultation documents posted on the council's website.

Following formal consultation No Objections were received.

Peter Bell, Highway Regulation Manager has taken a decision to approve the Lancashire County Council (Hala Road And Hala Hill Area, Lancaster, Lancaster City) (Revocation, Prohibition And Restriction Of Waiting) Order 202* Legal Reference: LSG4/105118/AFR.
