The Children and Young People Select Committee scrutinises issues affecting children and young people in Lewisham. It examines areas such as schools, children's social services, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision up to age 25, youth services, and support for care leavers. The committee holds decision-makers to account, challenges policy and budget decisions, and influences future policy through its recommendations. It selects its own focus areas annually and holds public meetings, with agendas and papers published online beforehand.
